WRX, WRX, WRX!

its been so long since i bought my lil juice box (a.k.a anything lesser then a 2 liter car qualifies that term). i have been with my Nissan Micra for as long as i can remember. i remember buying it when i was still in Uni. i told myself then that a car is only for getting you from Point A to Point B. a vehicle was meant to facilitate daily traveling and allow one to get more done in a day. that was back in 1997 when i got my first car. it's now 2005. it's now been 8 years. i have saved up some money to warrant an upgrade. i have been browsing the 2nd hand car scene with very little interest. i tell myself my lil car isn't going to be worth much selling it. plus, i hate the whole process of advertising the car in the papers, listing it in a car dealer online, waiting for people to call, answering questions about car history, haggling for a lower sale price and the likes. all in all it's kinda too much effort to get a new car, so i shelved it for awhile.

just when things were just getting all predictable in life for me, i met a new Pup. incidently i met her through a car club where everyone drove lil juice boxes. she and i both drove the same model car, only difference being, mine was Boy Blue and hers was Girl Red. how cool huh? in the beginning we used to drive to each others place, so having a car each was a rather good idea. then we both decided to move in together, then all of a sudden, having 2 cars outside on the porch was kinda silly. we have to pay for registration for two cars, rotate using the cars or the batteries will conk, wash and maintain 2 cars, in the end we both felt it was all too much of a hassle really to keep them both.

i told her it was a good idea if we both sold our cars and upgraded it to something we both liked. she didn't want to sell the cars on account, it was the cars that brought us together. so its sacrilegious! after much persuading she agreed and we sold both cars within the weekend. it wasn't as troublesome as i thought it would be, selling the cars on the internet was a breeze. select the sale price, upload the pictures, put down contact details and *twink* it almost sold itself.

the tricky bit was selecting a car we both liked. i thought the choosing of a car we both liked was the easy bit. good grief, how wrong was i. car too big, too old, too fuel hungry, too much mileage, wrong color, bad paintwork... i factored in 2 days Sat & Sun to buy our replacement car. it actually took us a week and a half. it was all too hard to go carless for that long, shes got school, i've got work, you get the picture. the only good thing that came out of that carless period was we did do the nice romantic catch-buses routine. i know it sounds corny, but it is nice every now and again to go back to sitting at the bus stop together. reading the bus schedule, looking at the watch and finding for coins. try it, you might be surprised.

after much thought and consideration, we both decided to go for the 1998 Subaru WRX Sedan. we test drove a few, and both liked the comfort and mostly the flashy nature of it. it was 4 doors and had nice trunk space, and was quick if it needed to be. today we took the car down for a pre-buying inspection at the mechanics. he gave us the thumbs up and we paid the owner for it. now we sit and wait for the paper work to get through and we should have it by tomorrow morning. cool beans! i feel kinda like a kid on X'mas morning. waiting and waiting. pacing around my house, anticipating for the owner to hand us the car keys and going for a spin in it.

*sweet*

Happy Anniversary!
