Why? Why? Why?

i have seen this happen so many times that i have begun to question the ability of us humans to steer clear of impending doom. is there a valid reason as to why we all choose to gravitate towards danger or make choices that inevitably will lead to doom and destruction. is it any better if we are able to put the blame on the lack of foresight, which allowed us to make the bad choices. what about if you insist on continuing on your doomed path even after you knew that the choices you are currently making will lead to disaster. it's so strange to think that the self fulfilling prophesy that we all know about is laughable when it happens to someone else, but totally unbelievable when it does happen to yourself.
